Sunday Family Dinner – Let Love Lead the Way

In most of my writing, I talk about Love. I believe that Love is extremely important to the health of a family, individual, and even society. Love can cause your heart to dance. Love can create a huge smile on your face. Love can heal wounds. Love can cause your spirit to sing. Love can form the best relationships you can ever have. Love is the basis for who we are as humans.

Love is more than just a strong adoration for another person. Love is more than just intense feelings. There has to be action behind those words and feelings. I believe that much of the hate, self-centeredness, and deplorable behavior that we are seeing in this country and world are because we are not letting Love lead the way.

When Love leads the way, we realize that it is senseless and ridiculous to hate someone because of the color of their skin. When Love leads the way, we speak more loving and kind to one another. When Love leads the way, we are more generous with giving to our families, friends, and those less fortunate. This could be giving of our time, talents, and resources. When Love leads the way, we are honest with those we say we Love and don’t play games with their feelings.

When Love leads the way, we are committed to our spouses and those that we are in relationships with. When Love leads the way, we are committed to our relationship with God and places Him first in our lives. When Love leads the way, we don’t continue to oppress the poor, widowed, children, or helpless. When Love leads the way, we build others up and are compassionate towards them. When Love leads the way, we treat others the way we want to be treated.

This country and this world can be a much better place but it requires all of us to let Love lead the way in our lives. Our families, relationships, communities, and society as a whole can be thriving, healthy places when we let Love lead the way. Think about how you can make changes in your own life to let Love lead the way. Make a commitment today to let Love lead the way.

As we think about the health of our families and communities, let’s go back to spending quality time with our families at the dinner table. Let’s go back to the basics of decency and Love. Join me in being committed to letting Love lead the way starting today!

Leading in Love,

Dr. Daphne
