This edition of the Sunday Family Dinner blog is for the ladies. Ladies, grab your daughters for this conversation at the dinner table and talk to them about Sisterhood. This weekend I had the distinct honor and pleasure of speaking at the Beauty for Ashes Conference hosted at Scripture Cathedrals Ministries in Landover, MD where I spoke about self-love. This event was a safe place for women to reconnect, heal, and affirm themselves as the beautiful people God created them to be. Also this weekend, I was blessed to host some of my sorors and friends of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at The Winery at La Grange in Haymarket, VA. We had an awesome time reconnecting and celebrating our friendship and sisterhood while enjoying some amazing wines.
Both of these activities reminded me how important friendships are amongst women. When women come together, we can literally make this country and world a better place. These activities reminded me that it is when women collaborate that we are the most successful. I was also reminded that I am supported and loved by some truly wonderful women. Ladies, we don’t have to compete with one another, we don’t have to gossip about one another, and we don’t have to be so critical and judging of one another.
However, when I lift my sister up and encourage her; I am setting the stage for both of us to be successful and am nurturing a much needed relationship in the life of a woman. Ladies, we need the friendship, love, and support of our sisters to affirm us and contribute to our well-being and success. When women come together, we are more strong and successful.
Ladies, what are you telling your daughters about sisterhood? While you are sitting together at the table enjoying dinner, talk to your daughters about what true friendship and sisterhood looks like. Let them know how important friendships are amongst women and girls so that they can stop bullying, competing, and body shaming one another, so that they can create a safe space to develop healthy relationships with other girls and come to recognize the importance of sisterhood.
Thank you to the lovely women who shared this weekend with me and helped me to remember how important the sisterhood and friendship is among women – Mariamah, Tracie, Arlean, Lavdena, LaTonya, Etta, Lori, Daria, Rhonisha, and Raven. Your sisterhood and friendship is valuable to me. Thank you again for sharing your friendship and sisterliness with me.
Ladies take some time to connect with your female friends and strengthen the sisterhood that makes women stronger and more successful.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter
a blog that’s both educative and engaging, and without a
doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something that
too few people are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy that I came across this during my search
for something relating to this.

Your absolutely right, sisterhood starts with each one of us. Staying connected with one another isn’t always simple but its certainly worthwhile to nature those relationships. I can’t wait to show and tell my little girl the importance of sisterhood and healthy female relationships.
